Abstract: | the pursuit of equality, the flight to recover the rights that have been taken away from women on the basis of their gender, taking up the public space they are entitled to as citizens and having their voices heard in the same way as men's are some of the main goals of feminism. Still and all, society is transversally infected by heteropatriarchy as men turn out to be afraid of losing their power which results in women finding nothing but setbacks and obstacles when it comes to getting their rights back. This issue is generally repeated in media, where only a few women get to management positions. Not only that but also, it particularly happens to exit a huge difference between columns signed by men and women on the opinion sections. This paper aims to analyse the gender gap in op-ed published in the newspaper EL PAÍS between 2017 and 2022. |
