Author: Leunda Atxega, Beñat

Abstract: Francoism is a historical period that radically changes the way of life in small rural villages like Orexa. The economic consequences of the war are dire for the life of the population. 1Public institutions such as the school and the local council underwent great changes. The Christian religion and the Church became the main actors during this period and the Basque language became the first victim of the dictatorship. Due to the passage of time the testimonies of these events are being lost and with this work we will try to make a compilation of experiences as a contribution to the historical memory.
