Abstract: The purpose of this study is to verify the authenticity of the remains said to be those of Christopher Columbus and currently lying in Seville Cathedral. With this aim we have carried out extensive documentary consultation, using interdisciplinary methodology, including the compilation and analysis of documentary sources, forensic analysis, a review of the main alternative theories and consideration of data from other disciplines such as calligraphy, lexicometrics, medecine and psychological profiling. This procedure should make it possible to verify whether the remains atributed to Admiral Columbus can be authenticated. Additionally, new lines of research are being opened which aim to explain the reasons for the discrepancies between official documentation and proven facts, which have resulted in so much confusion regarding the navigator's biography.
