Title: Aproximació a l'espai àrtic i antàrtic. Comparació en clau geopolítica
Author: Puente Bonilla, David
Tutor: Llorca García, Cristina
Abstract: This work intends to document and examine in depth the state of international relations and the articulation of political power in the Arctic and Antarctica by comparing the current geopolitics of both regions of the planet and bringing us closer, consequently, to the climatic effects of the decisions taken regarding them. We now know that both the Arctic and the Antarctica hide, under the ice layers, important mineral and energy resources which place these two locations in the center of interest of the world’s major powers. However, the governance mechanisms that prevail in each of these regions regulate sovereignty, access and exploitation of resources in a different way and, therefore, start from two different realities. In this sense, it is necessary to understand and analyse the different systems that legislate them in order to understand the configuration, the interests involved and the present and future conflicts.
