Author: Martínez Herrera, Òscar
Tutor: Monreal Ruestes, Isidro
Abstract: The purpose of this work is to create a proposal of auteur documentary, where whose personal experience is one of the protagonists of the video, which is mixed with the experiences of the rest of the interviewees, the official figures on bullying, complaints, work in the classrooms to raise awareness, number of suicides and some related news. The set helps to understand a reality that does not always have visibility, as well as the pain of the sufferer and the family. This is intended to achieve a way to give visibility to the phenomenon of bullying, in order to make understand the consequences that remain in the person who suffers it. Through the presentation of different related testimonies, the existence of difficulties in coexistence between students in schools is explained, the teachers' perspective and the psychological consequences that it entails in the long term. It is the reality that surrounds us. What is popularly known as Anglicism bullying, its effects and its consequences on the person, in the short or long term, is a fact known throughout the world and which is not always given the same importance, despite the fact that there is more and more awareness. However, the Valencian Community is positioned as the fourth autonomous region with the highest number of cases of bullying, with 7% of students experiencing it. It is necessary to continue to provide information about the many related problems that students face on a daily basis. Society needs to know witnesses, cases and causes. An adult who has suffered bullying in his childhood has sequelae that, in many cases, are not detected and need psychological treatment. Others do not even reach adulthood, because they take their own lives: The number of suicides in children under fifteen tripled in 2021. In order to achieve the purpose of this work, first of all, a search has been carried out for journalistic articles, documentaries and televised reports and other information sources from social networks. Secondly, a series of contacts have been made with different related actors, such as victims, teachers, anti-bullying associations, relatives of victims and others. Among the contacts made is Miquel Alvarez, a high school teacher assaulted by his students in 2022, interviewed on October 15, 2023. Other contacts, still to be closed, include students who are being victims of bullying, Gloria Mota, member of the board of directors of the association "Stop Haters", the first in Spain dedicated to helping and advising victims of cybercrime, and Francisco Sorolla, president of the Valencian Association against Bullying -AVALCAE-. In addition, the video is enriched by combining different narrative resources, such as archive videos, news, photographs, silences and sound effects. The documentary also has a soundtrack made expressly by the musician Jorge Herrera. Thus, it is about reaching the awareness and feelings of the viewer, in order to transmit the message "stop bullying". In short, it is necessary to raise awareness and understand that this phenomenon continues inside and outside the classroom, which is why the need to continue working to eradicate it is evident.
