Renovació de l'arquitectura TI a l’Institut de Recerca Vall d’Hebron (VHIR)

Abstract

L’Institut de Recerca de Vall d’Hebron, s’ubica dins el Campus Universitari Vall d’Hebron, a la ciutat de Barcelona. Hi desenvolupen la seva tasca d’investigació aproximadament uns 1000 professionals, distribuïts entre el personal d’administració, i el personal que es dedica pròpiament a la investigació pre-clínica. A més a més, cal tenir en compte que també treballen en format de col·laboració altres 1000 investigadors d’altres centres assistencials, principalment provinents de l’Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, que estan dedicats a la tasca assistencial en col·laboració estreta amb la recerca translacional, és a dir aquella recerca que es duu a terme al laboratori però també és aplicable en entorns clínics. És evident la importància de l’entorn TI com a eina de suport al desenvolupament de la investigació. Així doncs es fa necessari dotar als investigadors i a la resta de persones que treballen al centre de recerca, de les eines informàtiques necessàries per dur a terme la seva feina en les millors condicions informàticament parlant. Aquesta per tant, és una de les principals missions de la Unitat d’Informàtica del VHIR. L’entorn de la informàtica està estretament lligat a l‘actualització i millora constant, i en aquest sentit aquest Treball de Final de Grau està orientat a cerca de la millor opció per a la renovació tecnològica en el principal entorn de dades de l’entitat. Partirem d’un escenari amb una arquitectura de virtualització obsoleta i amortitzada econòmicament parlant, que volem actualitzar, i on haurem de tenir en compte certes limitacions que tractarem en el transcurs de la memòria.

The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute is located within the Vall d'Hebron University Campus, in the city of Barcelona. Approximately 1,000 professionals carry out their research work there, distributed between the administration staff and the staff dedicated to pre-clinical research. In addition, it should be in mind that another 1000 researchers from other care centers, mainly from the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, are also working in collaboration type, who are dedicated to the care work in collaboration closely with translational research, that is to say that research that is carried out in the laboratory but is also applicable in the clinical environment. It is quite obvious the importance of the IT environment as a tool to support the development of research. It is therefore necessary to provide the researchers and the rest of the people who work at the research center with the computer tools necessary to carry out their work in the best computer-speaking conditions. This is therefore one of the main missions of the VHIR IT Unit. The IT environment is closely linked to constant updating and improvement, and in this sense this Final Degree Project is aimed at finding the best option for technological renewal in the entity's main data environment. We will start from a scenario with an outdated and economically amortized virtualization architecture, which we want to update, and where we will have to take into account certain limitations that we will deal with in the course of the report.
