Abstract: As the world population is aging either is growing the amount of elder drivers. Older drivers are aware of aged-related-declines that make driving difficult. Therefore, they apply self-regulation, which is the process of modifying one’s driving patterns in response to that awareness before driving cessation (DC). DC means losing autonomy and well-being. ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance Systems) could improve autonomy and well-being among older drivers delaying DC. Aims. To review the scientific knowledge about older drivers, their ADAS experience of use and ADAS effects on making decisions about self-regulation and driving cessation. Methodology. A scoping review was carried out in PudMed, Cochrane and “Innovation in Aging” in November 2023. PRISMA-ScR guide was followed, CASPe system was applied for critical reading and GRADE was used for classifying the evidence and setting the strength of recommendations. Results. Thirteen articles were selected as a result of the process. Most of them were North-American-descriptive studies. Findings indicated good acceptance, safety and comfort perception, as well as older drivers favourites ADAS. Likewise, problems in using ADAS were found such as: difficulties to understand interfaces, lack of training programs and owner’s manual not available. Conclusion. Older Drivers are willing to use ADAS to minimize age-related declines and cope with difficult driving situations. ADAS could improve self-regulation and delay driving cessation. Analytical studies will be needed to carry out in order to collect high quality dates to support ADAS design recommendations and self-regulation and driving cessation ones.
