Abstract: | The lateralization present in humans due to brain asymmetries, that is, anatomical, biochemical and functional differences between the two hemispheres, has many advantages and is mainly related to verbal ability and object manipulation. Paleoneurology studies the anatomy and evolution of the brain through the analysis of endomolds, created from endocranial cavities, which show the external anatomy of the brain. The study of the endocasts and the results extracted from these studies must be treated with great care, since they only give us information about the shape of the brain and its cortical elements. In this research we will work with a representative sample of 30 individuals of the genus Homo sapiens, with the same number of individuals of each sex, from which we will study the endocasts to know and quantify the cerebral asymmetries, particularly the petalias, present in this species and the possible relationships with manual laterality. |
