Abstract: This project comprises a comparative and qualitative analysis of the terminology of the Spanish dubbing of the various Star Trek series with the aim of defining the main differences between these dubbings, as well as the techniques used by the translators of each of the analysed series. In order to do this, samples have been gathered for the most important and recurring terms of four series, each of them dubbed in a different decade. Throughout the analysis, the different translations of each term across the series have been compared with the original versions in English. Finally, it has been observed that the older dubbings feature more varied techniques of omission, substitution and foreignisation, while the recent ones lean more towards domestication. A higher terminological consistency has also been found in the latter. All this has shed light into the evolution of the dubbing translations of one of the most influential franchises in the science fiction genre.
