Abstract: Gentrification has become a phenomenon of growing interest in major cities around the world, and Barcelona is no exception. As the city undergoes social, economic, and urban transformations, gentrification emerges as a complex phenomenon affecting various areas and communities, manifesting itself differently from historic neighborhoods to peripheral areas. The increasing weight of tourism in the city plays a significant role in this process, driving changes that influence various aspects, such as rising housing prices, changes in the commercial composition of neighborhoods, pressure on public services and infrastructure, as well as the forced displacement of residents seeking alternatives in other areas of the city. This project aims to use open data to identify the factors that facilitate determining the level of gentrification in different neighborhoods of Barcelona, creating an interactive visualization of these variables along with a representation of their temporal evolution. Subsequently, classification and short-term gentrification risk prediction techniques were evaluated. Through this analysis, the aim is to better understand the processes of gentrification in the city and provide added value to develop strategies to address its socioeconomic impacts.
