"De(s)generando el arte del s. XXI: análisis del arte drag como herramienta de deconstrucción del género en el arte contemporáneo (2012-2023)

Abstract

A pesar de su larga tradición histórica, el Drag se ha convertido en referencia el desarrollo del arte posmoderno y contemporáneo y de las principales premisas de los Estudios de género y queer en los últimos diez años. Por todo ello, se muestra como un hecho sociocultural que intenta «degenerar» las normativas sociopolíticas y culturales; suponiendo un nuevo punto de interés para el estudio contemporáneo en las ciencias humanas y sociales. Sin embargo, su resonancia queda a veces obnubilada por su carácter de mero espectáculo trivial. Por este motivo, este trabajo remarca su importancia como movimiento narrativo y artístico tanto para la sociedad contemporánea, como para el colectivo LGBTQIA+. A través del estudio cualitativo, fenomenológico y hermenéutico de los datos y el posterior análisis de imágenes de diversas artistas Drag; demostraremos que el arte Drag conforma una realidad estética propia; y a su vez, esta le otorga una brillante capacidad discursiva y reivindicativa para difundir las nuevas teorías sobre diversos géneros, identidades sexuales, nuevas masculinidades y feminidades, etc. En resumen, se propone una visión holística del Drag y del estudio de las casuísticas de su presencia en la sociedad actual; haciendo hincapié tanto en su desarrollo con las nuevas tecnologías y en otros ámbitos artísticos, como en las desavenencias sociopolíticas con diferentes grupos sociales. En conclusión, el Drag se establece así como nueva dialéctica poshumanista y posmodernista del colectivo LGBTQIA+ en la sociedad actual.

Despite its long historical tradition, drag has become a standard reference for the development of postmodern and contemporary art, and the main premises of gender and queer studies in the last ten years. Therefore, it is viewed as a socio-cultural statement that attempts to "degenerate" socio- political and cultural norms, representing a new point of interest for contemporary studies in the human and social sciences. However, its resonance is sometimes obscured by its mere trivial nature. For this reason, this paper highlights its importance as a narrative and artistic movement, for both the contemporary society as well as for the LGBTQIA+ collective. Through the qualitative, phenomenological, and hermeneutic study of the data and the subsequent analysis of images of various drag artists, it will be demonstrated that drag art shapes its own aesthetic reality and simultaneously, contributes to developing new theories of gender, sexual identities and various representations of masculinity and femininity. In essence, the paper proposes a holistic vision of drag and the study of the casuistry of its presence in today's society, emphasizing its technological development, the influence on other artistic fields as well as the socio-political disagreements with diverse social groups. In conclusion, drag thus established a new post-humanist and post-modernist dialectic of the LGBTQIA+ collective of today's society.
