Title: Empresa i medi ambient: aplicació d'un model de negoci sostenible

Abstract: This study focuses on the belief that, it is possible to implement a business model where sustainability and the preservation of the planet become the main goal, even above the economic benefits. With the main purpose being to provide an alternative to the current consumption and production model, based on an unlimited and intensive exploitation of natural resources and social capital. To ensure the acquisition of different points of view to this concept, the study has been divided into four main sections. As a first approach, an economically profitable and environmentally responsible business model, such as the Patagonia brand, has been studied. Followed by the applicability of a similar business model to a company from the same market segment, specifically Viladomat Andorra. To support this analysis, the study has identified the main limitations that prevent Andorran businesses to evolve to a more sustainable world. And finally, providing an external point of view, the role of the consumer in this new business model has been analyzed. After the different analysis it is possible to affirm that, the applicability of this ‘more sustainable’ business model is possible in the specific case of Viladomat Andorra, through various business policies specific to its environment. Considering that there is a real possibility of coexistence between economic profitability and environmental sustainability, and even a direct and positive correlation between them. The main conclusion from this work is that the future of business will be sustainable, or it will not be. On one side, the companies will have to overcome the limitations presented, whether economic or cultural, and on the other, the consumers will have to assume the importance of our role in driving the change in consumption trends and business practices.
