Abstract: This essay explores the intersection of vulnerability, identity, status, communication, and emancipation in the context of contemporary capitalism. Through a personal reflection on bullying and sexual orientation discrimination, it examines how hegemonic discourses perpetuate various forms of oppression that are sometimes adopted in the form of selfdestruction. Using diverse theories and perspectives, it is argued that communication and normative frameworks are fundamental in the formation of subaltern identities and their precarious condition. It analyzes the impact of vigilante and cognitive capitalism, represented by large technological corporations, and highlights the need for an accurate diagnosis in order to design strategies of resistance based on cooperation to overcome competitive and short-term thinking. The essay proposes an integrative ethics that combines teleological principles such as virtue, happiness, and practical wisdom; with an ethics of care; and a deontology centered on human rights and social justice. It also advocates an emancipatory pedagogy that promotes inclusion and the construction of respectful narratives to improve cohesion and coexistence. It reflects on weltschmerz, utopia and dystopia, proposing a path of reconciliation and responsibility to live and coexist in peace. This essay invites to rethink coexistence and adopt an active stance in the creation of a more just and compassionate society; one that somehow takes advantage of the creative potential of human beings.
