Author: Domènech Barbarà, Marta

Abstract: Menopause is a natural stage in women's lives where there are physical and emotional changes that can decrease quality of life. Research shows that addressing this stage through support, information, and tools to manage symptoms and changes improves women's emotional well-being. Additionally, providing a space for emotional ventilation reduces the negative view of this stage and associated symptoms. Therefore, the overall objective is to design a psychoeducational group proposal led by Social Health Work to improve the emotional well-being of individuals in menopause. The group intervention will involve various professionals such as midwives, nurses, nutritionists, emotional well-being specialists, and physiotherapists to ensure comprehensive care. The group will consist of 9 sessions lasting 90 minutes each, held biweekly. Participants will be women aged 45 to 55 experiencing menopause and emotional distress. Questionnaires will be used before and after the intervention to measure changes in quality of life and attitudes towards menopause. Through group participation, a reduction in associated negative symptoms, a more positive attitude towards this stage, and a decrease in health-related consultations are expected. Finally, the need to support menopause and climacteric, as well as the importance of advocating for the role of Medical Social Work in intervention, is emphasized.
