Title: L'etiquetatge social, una eina per a organitzar la xarxa, setembre 2008
Author: Padrós Rodríguez, Joan
Abstract: One of the phenomena that has achieved great popularity is social tagging. Traditionally, specialized professionals classified objects. Nowadays, any internet user can carry out their own classification of the resources present on the net through the use of keywords called tags or labels. In fact, on the internet there is a proliferation of applications that allow these practices, such as YouTube or Flickr. A particular case of social tagging are social labels or bookmarking, like Del.icio.us or Mister Wong, that allow us to store and catalogue web addresses, just as we would do with the ¿add a bookmark¿ option in our navigator. The possibility of storing our favourite links in an online application allows access from any computer connected to internet. These applications also allow access to web addresses or tags, in specialized language, stored by other users with interests similar to our own and access to the markers identified with a specific label, independently of the user who has introduced it. Therefore, social tagging facilitates, on the one hand, storage and classification of our tags and, on the other hand, the search for new tags compatible with our interests, classified by other users. Frequently, social tagging applications go even further, offering other possibilities such as creation of groups, syndication of contents, etc.
