Abstract: Through the works of Alphonse Mucha as a paradigmatic artist of Art Nouveau in the geographical context of Paris between the endings of the 19th century and the beginnings of the 20th century, this essay does research on the possible influence of advertisement in the promotion and consolidation of the high-class beliefs and values, with special emphasis on those related to woman, due to the importance of the feminine figure in Mucha's works. Furthermore, it is also wanted to establish the extent of those groups on creating an artistic field that would make possible to look at the afiche from an aesthetic point of view, as another element more of this modern, capitalist and urban culture full of great transformations and new technologies. Nonetheless and from the critical perspective of the Frankfurt School, this culture is seen as a way to 'dehumanize' people in the name of science and progress, because of their sentence of unlimited purchasing in order to satisfy an insatiable wish: the desire of emulating the leisure class, or in other words, the class that is controlling their lives.
