Abstract: The course "Public Management of Tourism" has been conceived and developed to introduce the student in the management of tourism from the perspective of public administration, by assuming a professional position in the framework of public tourist administrations. The "Public Management of Tourism" course presents the approach that the public administration field has - or should have- in the design and management of the tourism sector. In this course, students would be placed in the position that would correspond to them as a professional with competences and/or decision-making capacity in the design and implementation of tourism policy and strategy applied to a specific tourist destination. Clearly, all of this assumes the competential capacity of a mid-level technician, which would correspond to a graduate in tourism. Tourism, as a fundamental sector in the economy of many countries, already requires a high degree of knowledge in its design and management and this course will provide the student with the necessary framework of theoretical-conceptual reflection and the essential elements that must be considered in the process of tourism planning and management, from the viewpoint of public management.
