Abstract: This book introduces the reader to four data collection techniques often used in social and educational research: questionnaire, interview, group discussion and participant observation. In the cycle of research, these techniques are implemented in order to bring together a body of evidence that, once analyzed, can respond to research questions of quantitative and qualitative. The nature of the information generated is a central aspect in deciding the technique to guide data collection. Each technique produces a different type of information and consequently gives access to different dimensions of the investigated social phenomena. For this reason, in addition to providing a framework for the design and implementation of each technique, the book aims to provide the reader with the skills necessary for the evaluation of their membership and adapting to different situations research.
