Abstract: This paper analyzes the various allusions that collect in the Iliad on Greek mantic. The message and the context of omens will be addressed and how it happened, the figure of the praying mantis and its functions, false soothsayers, prophecy and dreams. The trial seeks to fill the large gaps running in the art and explain divining mantic all mentions of the Iliad. The methodology is based as a primary source Homeric work and other classical authors like Cicero, Plato and Plutarch, and serve as secondary sources as articles and bibliographic essays. However, they will analyze the prophetic symbols, mánteis themselves, the relationship could have in society, their influence, and his handling of the truth in the contextual framework of the Trojan War.
