Abstract: | Homo sapiens presents cerebral morphological characteristics that enabled the cognitive abilities that we can observe currently. But they have not been the result of a unique and specific event in our evolutionary history, but years of changes in genetic endowment and adaptation to the environment have sought our increase in brain volume and its organization and connectivity, where cerebral asymmetry has been the strategy to optimize neural resources. However, in the fossil record there are evidence of a cognitive explosion in Homo sapiens closely related to the expansion of the fronto-parietal lobes. Therefore, many of the cognitive abilities were incipient in the ancient individuals of the genus Homo, but if was not until the arrival of Homo sapiens that they have capacities sustained under the substrate of the frontal and parietal areas. |
