The objectives pursued during the research were to determine the degree of patient satisfaction when delivering bad news to chronic patients and the doctor¿s role, more specifically in reference to the communication of the diagnosis; to identify the channel or variety of channels that the doctor used to communicate bad news to the patient; to see the patients¿ proposals for improving the communication of bad news; to compare patient satisfaction with the volume of information received and, finally, to determine the opinion of medical professionals regarding the current level of communication between doctor and patient.
