Title: El Donatismo y la violencia en el cristianismo primitivo

Abstract: Early Christianity witnessed a great deal of heterodox movements during the first centuries of its existence. Donatism will be one of these movements and probably the most violent at all levels. The expansion of Christianity by North Africa meant that the North African Christians established themselves in power and sought to rekindle internal quarrels arising during the persecutions. Moreover, the instability of the Roman world since the third century AD. And also during the fourth century AD. Will be the germ for heterodox Christianity in North Africa to have violent groups circulating throughout its territory, the circumcellions. This fact will be one of the points of violence that acquiring the Donatismo, although, in addition to this, the concept of martyr and the memory of these will rise as a problem for Christian Catholics. This violence arising from the donatismo will put in check the imperial powers in this territory and would generate violent responses on the part of the State. The violence that occurs in the donatismo will be, therefore the case of study to treat. Neutrally we are going to enter into this heresy by working with primary and secondary sources.
