Title: Análisis comparativo de la terminología ornitológica para la denominación de las aves chilenas entre el inglés neutro y el español de Chile

Abstract: The study is a comparative analysis of the ornithological terminology to name Chilean birds between the neutral English and the Chilean Spanish. Its aim is to find which rule should be applied to choose a specific bird¿s characteristic when naming it, independently of the scientific name. This research is based on the field of terminology, focused on the discipline of ornithology. The sample covers 117 Chilean birds belonging to 13 taxonomic families. The register included the scientific name, and neutral English and Chilean Spanish vernacular names, and the records were classified according to the name approach. It was found that definitely there are differences when naming the birds.
