Abstract: | This Master Thesis is focused on the design of a configurable BMS that enables using a single BMS design for any type and configuration of cells just by loading the optimal parameters of the type of cell and the limitations of the battery. After analyzing the characteristics of the existing BMSs, a BMS based on a new "modified Modular" topology was designed. This topology minimizes the number of cards and components required and therefore costs. During this project, the BMS protoype was successfully designed and completed. Furthermore, in the testing phase both the power of this tool and the importance of BMSs in lithium batteries to improve performance and safety were demonstrated. This project has enabled developing a very useful device for both the lithium electric batteries manufacturers and for testing laboratories. |
