Abstract: Studies in the USA confirm that professional firefighters have a higher prevalence of obesity and overweight than those of the general population and the greater risk of suffering a cardiovascular accident. The Mediterranean Diet (MD) is considered a healthy diet model and is related to a decrease in cardiovascular disease and an improvement in the quality of life. The objective is to evaluate the degree of adherence to MD, the level of physical activity and other healthy habits of professional firefighters in Catalonia and relate them to the risk of obesity and other disorders of the metabolic syndrome.
