Abstract: | This work is based on the theoretical study of the semantic web and all around it (standards, Open Data, etc.), and on the creation of an ontology using the Stanford University's methodology, which contains data of all the means of public transport offered by the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid and interesting elements of the city. Therefore, the aim of the practical development is to allow it to be nourished from several data repositories and, consequently, to unify the terminology of the structure of these sources in order that the ontology could be used by external software which seek to generate knowledge and provide decision-making support. On the other hand, the motivation of this project also refers to a critical view about the management of public resources by political leaders. The comparative analysis between the results of some queries to the ontology and the Madrid's population satisfaction index about several public and social areas, reinforce the perception of inequality on the inhabitants of certain districts of the city. Finally, the work also presents the development of a web software which interacts with the ontology, a fact that aims to demonstrate one of its multiple applications and the benefits associated with the semantic web: provide semantic data, generate inferences and manage large flows of data in a very efficient way, among others. |
