Author: Panizo Plaza, Jose Manuel
Tutor: Hinarejos, M. Francisca
Abstract: Blockchain, and the rest of distributed data storing technologies, make up the big picture for information technology. Due to their transaction-oriented nature and the possibility of information verification and distribution, they portray the ideal agent for supplying the perfect conditions for a whole range of financial services. This Master's Degree Final Project aims to design a 'Delivery Vs Payment' system (DVP hereinafter), as an exchange means inside the European financial environment, using 'Distributed Ledger Technologies' (DLT hereinafter). Following an introduction to European payment infraestructures and DVP concepts, a further analysis will be made upon DLT concepts and its features regarding public and private networks, consensus methods, or integrity maintenance. Afterwards, the relevant attributes for a DLT solution will be picked up based on the selected environment, and the different components will be subsequently studied as well as the characteristics of Hyperledger Fabric framework. Summing all this up, decisions will be made for the design of a DVP architecture, taking into account the security and functionality of the architecture. As a conclusion of this paper, a balanced system for exchange among DVP actors will be detailed, accompanied by a concept test on Hyperledger Fabric framework.
