Abstract: The aging of the population has provoked the emergence of new social problems. One of them, the loneliness of the elderly population. The people situated in the mentioned group of age living alone has increased. On the other hand, we find that many young people have to move to Barcelona to study at university. In this way, there is a part of the population living alone and another that seeks an economic housing. For this reason, La Pedrera Foundation along with the Barcelona City Council, launched the initiative a 20 years ago, where a student could share a flat with an elderly person. Thus, it is creating a symbiosis where both parts are being benefit. The youngers learn from the experience of a person over 65 years. And, the elderly does not feel so alone and is being revalued and apprecia-ted. Thus, both parties continue to grow and learn. The main objective of this work is to relaunch this project that has lost its visibility a few years ago and now is in the hands of the Roure Foundation through the intervention of other social agents such as universities and the city council itself in order to make clear the importance of the social capital that represents the elderly people.
