Author: Tugores Pons, Maties

Abstract: The present research paper aims to analyze, from a qualitative point of view, the aesthetic and narrative value that has the sequence shot in the cinema of the Georgian Mikhaïl Kalatozov. In this way, the study is raised through three aspects: the complex theoretical conceptualization of the film resource in continuation called sequence shot; the enhancement of an extraordinary filmography such as that of Mikhaïl Kalatozov ¿and especially his collaborations with the director of photography Serguei Urusevski¿, always relegated to a second plane in the history of Soviet cinema; and the contextualization of his work within the sociopolitical turbulence that characterized the Soviet Union until its dissolution.
