Abstract: The artistic possibilities of the image in the creation of the documentary is a study that addresses how the images captured from reality go through an artistic consideration, based on the deepening of the constituent elements of the genre. The exploration is done a priori on its basis, based on the audiovisual culture we possess, the relationship established between the image and the ways of looking, those who watch the audiovisual and who creates it, the game that it is originates in the documentary creation on how the representation of reality is made and what is understood as such, the concept of realism and the temporal dimension of the image, or how credibility is given to the image. The study includes the analysis of three documentaries of contemporary filmmakers. Methodologically, the perspective that is assumed for the analysis is aesthetics, based on the proposals made by John Corner: pictorial, aural and narrative analysis.
