Abstract: Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is an issue with repercussions in the adulthood of the victims. Numerous scientific literature has studied the short and long term effects of CSA, mainly through retrospective research. These effects include the presence of depressive and anxious symptoms. However, there are few studies that analyze these effects in a prospective approach, tracking their lifelong evolution. This final degree work has a double objective. On the one hand, to track the depressive and anxious symptomatology of ASI victims during their entire adulthood. On the other hand, to compare these results with those obtained with a control group representative of the general population. To this aim, the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) will be applied to both groups. These results will be analyzed through subgroups of same gender cohorts with a window of 5 years of age (starting from 18 years of age). The aim is to check the relationship between CSA and higher rates of depression and anxiety, as well as the maintenance of this symptomatology over time. Our study will be limited by the fact that the control group might include CSA victims. In Catalonia, the estimated share of CSA victims is 15% of its population. In spite of this limitation, we expect to enhance the knowledge about the long-term effects of CSA.
