Title: "Bienvenidos a Paldea": Traducción y transcreación en la nomenclatura de Pokémon Escarlata y Púrpura desde el japonés al castellano
Author: Nadal Cervera, Carmen
Tutor: Rodríguez Vázquez, Silvia
Abstract: Video games localisation is a relatively new area in translation, and therefore needs further studies. In this case study, we will analyse the localisation of anthroponyms and names of pokémon in the video games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, following the translation strategies proposed by Fernández Costales. After reviewing the studies precedents and relevant theories, we will analyse in depth and statistically the origin of each name in Spanish, the translation strategies utilised and the relationship with the original Japanese name and the localised English name, to determine how independent is the Spanish version from the English localisation.
