Abstract: The new digital paradigm has made a significant breakthrough in all areas of human endeavour. The new generations are naturally assimilating this new culture that is taking shape and that involves, in many cases, important efforts in training, adaptation and assimilation of new ways of doing things and interacting with others. The aim of this paper is to reflect on the way in which new technologies affect the processes of reading and writing and to analyse how educational institutions in Catalonia, especially public primary schools, are taking on these new challenges.
