Author: Arnal Portillo, Elena

Abstract: The subject of study for this final master's thesis is burnout syndrome. What it is and what are the origins. It also delves into what its characteristics are, the risk and trigger factors, the stages of how it presents itself and what are its main consequences. Objective: To analyze whether burnout syndrome is present among the workers of the justice department of Girona and what is its prevalence. Methods. The data evaluated has been collected from workers of the department of justice of Girona through a questionnaire for the detection of burnout syndrome which includes the questionnaire for the assessment of burnout syndrome (CESQT) analyzing work motivation, mental exhaustion, indolence, and guilt, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire that analyzes personal fulfillment, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion. Results: The data collected is analyzed according to the indication for each instrument obtaining similar results between them and detecting in both cases the presence of burnout syndrome. The percentiles obtained in the sample identify the prevalence of the syndrome and the different levels of involvement. Conclusions: The results detect the presence of burnout syndrome through the two instruments used. The results indicate that 3 out of 10 workers who participated in the sample have burnout syndrome, we can therefore conclude that the general and specific objectives of this study have been met. It can be identified that the professional profile of procedural administrator, with a temporary contract and aged between 40 and 50, is the most affected, as gender is not significant. There is low enthusiasm for work and personal fulfillment that jointly with high levels of exhaustion and depersonalization cause the presence of the syndrome. There is evidence of bias in the study due to the lack of comparison of other studies conducted within the justice department sector. Proposed intervention: The objectives of the proposed intervention affect both the individual and organizational spheres.
