Abstract: Since the origin of languages, people have had the need to be understood. Translation is a fundamental tool in the dissemination and understanding of diversity, and the translator is the piece that facilitates an approach of cultures. But at the time of carrying out this purpose, not all the translators do it in the same way. We must take into account cultural, historical, referential, linguistic, social factors... elements determining the result of a translation and the differences between different translations of the same text. In this paper I intend to determine the different strategies that translators have followed when translating into Catalan the ninth story of the fourth journey of The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio.
