Abstract: This article aims to contextualise and interpret the processes of secularisation of Catholic priests. Their massive exit from priesthood mirrors some of the deep, wide social changes that have taken place in Europe (as well as in Spain) during the last third of the 20th century. Especially this article concentrates on the narratives delivered by women who married an ex-priest. Their interpretation of the experiences, reflections, and explanations regarding secularization are one of the less visible sides of the already almost invisible (and silenced) phenomenon of sacerdotal secularisation.
