Title: La necesidad de comunicación de las empresas: el proceso de comunicación interno y externo de las pequeñas y medianas empresas
Author: Llorens Marín, Andrea

Abstract: The current reality of the market seems to indicate that there are two facts, in principle unquestionable, in relation to corporate communication carried out by companies, regardless of their size. These two verifiable facts are also recognized, as we will see, by the majority of experts in the field. On the one hand, there is the need for companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to communicate internally and externally whatever their activity, their size or the environment in which they develop their business; that is, that companies disclose -inside and outside them- what they do. On the other hand, there is the fact that SMEs communicate, today and mostly, insufficiently. It can be seen from the beginning: a need to do something -communicate- and a lack -that communication is not done or done badly. This phenomenon, really a problem, occurs worldwide and has various causes, whether economic, technical or cultural of the companies themselves or even third parties -such as their suppliers or their customers. Having said the above and based on the idea that corporate communication helps -and much- SMEs in the development, growth and expansion of their businesses -even in some cases to the company's own survival-, it is convenient to analyse and, if necessary, deepen the causes of why these types of companies and their managers do not use a strategic tool of this importance.
