Abstract: This article is an inquiry into the construction, meaning and reinterpretation of the sexed body through the analysis of the gay pride marches held in Madrid to commemorate the Stonewall riots. The analysis focuses on the intersection between body, ideology, sexuality, identities, gender and consumption in order to understand the body from a personal, social and political perspective. Beginning in the 1960s, the medicalization of homosexuality has been subverted through a process of reappropriation and reinterpretation of the body that can be traced through narratives of gay experience. The gay body, transformed into a sexed and resistant body, becomes a boundary marker and a symbolic locus for the embodiment and representation of identity processes and complex discursive practices that focus attention on such basic categories as sex, gender, and sexual practices. the body from a personal, social and political perspective.
