Abstract: In 2020 the information about the incidence of mental health in the work environment and employees is still scarce, so this work seems to be necessary and innovative and intends to make known Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and break the stigmas about the same disorder. On the other hand, the mission of this work is to ensure visibility and importance to the condition in the work environment and at the same time, reveal how this condition affects the employability, performance and absenteeism of the employees with a previous diagnose. Considering the survey and the quantitative research, it is observed that BPD symptoms and characteristics have an influence on the companies and employees. The present work shows a short seniority, impaired performance and absenteeism due to sickness higher than voluntary absenteeism. Employability, performance and presenteeism on workers suffering from BPD are lower than the Spanish average. Therefore, this is the reason why approaching the disorder and the consequences to the work environment and the field of human resources will be of high importance and the main objective of this research. According to the statistics, the companies would possess a 5% of employees with BPD, diagnosed or not. Consequently, regarding the results from the survey and other statistics from this work and concerning the proposed hypothesis, new lines of research will be opened in support of employees with BPD and their companies. The awareness of the disorder and mental health of employers and employees, the creation of a unique system to survey and evaluate the work performance and the creation of a survey in order to measure the work conditions in the companies will be the main new lines of research.
