Title: Transformación digital en las bibliotecas universitarias (tendencias, cambios y nuevos espacios de aprendizaje)
Author: Moreno Polo, José Antonio
Tutor: López-Borrull, Alexandre
Abstract: The concept of digital transformation is understood as a set of changes, mainly in a technological, cultural, organizational or social environment. But it goes beyond the simple adoption of new technologies by making new services possible, experiencing new experiences and, especially for the purpose of this work, making large amounts of information and content accessible regardless of the actual availability of these resources. Although new capabilities and digital media offer new opportunities, digital transformation also poses challenges. Therefore, certain digital transformation strategies are necessary to optimize the new tools and developments provided by the current digital society. For the purpose of this paper, two aspects are most affected by the digital transformation: university libraries and the creation of new learning spaces. University libraries, as they have demonstrated throughout their history, have adapted to the successive changes by always providing a useful and vital service to teachers and students. As a result of the current transformation, new roles and services are appearing and will be analysed. Likewise, we will review how the spaces have evolved to become common teaching models where aspects such as digital scholarship and collaborative work are encouraged.
