Author: González Aran, Maria

Abstract: The normalized nature of sexism is one of the main obstacles to the fight for gender equality, acting from an androcentric cultural framework that systematically naturalizes its manifestations in different spheres. This paper examines the presence of sexism in higher education, pointing out its structural nature and focusing on the different areas in which it leaves its mark. Through a first bibliographic review, the different theoretical frameworks that justify the discriminatory nature of cultural androcentrism in the world of the university are adressed, concentrating on the specific case of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. At the same time, a descriptive study of the beliefs, perceptions and experiences of the UOC's Degree in Psychology students is developed, giving centrality to the student group as protagonists of the university community. The aim is to point out the state of the current issue, pointing out shortcomings and potentialities for the optimal implementation of gender mainstreaming at the UOC.
