Abstract: The nutritional status and hydration of the alzheimer's dementia patient may be compromised because of a condition caused by the neurological deterioration it causes, dysphagia. Objective. To know what type of dysphagia the Alzheimer's patient presents, in addition to measure in which level affects the nutritional status of the patient and to recognize what dietary tactics we can offer to alleviate the nutritional deficits caused by this dysphagia. Methodology. Bibliographical review of thirty scientific articles that expose the relationship between dysphagia in Alzheimer's patients, the nutritional impacts it has and the solutions they propose. Results. All studies found affirm the relationship between the progression of Alzheimer's-like cognitive decline to the severity of dysphagia. The association between dysphagia and malnutrition is evident, up to 80% of patients in various texts show nutritional deficits such as low levels of folates, calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6 and B12. It highlights the negative result of turmix diets, with conventional food, and the need for patients to take dietary supplements Conclusions: The need for preventive action on dysphagia is vitally important for Alzheimer's patients, and dysphagia, to obtain comprehensive and continuous nutritional care. Preventing and controlling nutritional deficits will prevent bone, muscle and epithelial conditions, as well as acute clinics such as bronchoalyc aspiration and lung infections.
