Title: Patrimonio arqueológico viral más allá del COVID-19
Author: Gómez Guixà, Josep

Abstract: The emergence of COVID-19 has forced a radical change in conventions and attitudes that affects all territories and strata of society. The archaeological heritage has also been affected by the absence of the public or the restrictions carried out by the administration. Measuring the impact of the pandemic on heritage facilities requires perspective, but obtaining a first snapshot of the situation can help define strategies that cushion the economic, social and cultural blow. In this sense, new technologies and social networks have been presented as a powerful tool to prevent disconnection with the public. Evaluating its effectiveness and discerning whether its use has been ephemeral in relation to face-to-face value or an irreversible implementation, becomes essential to shape the future of heritage facilities. To carry out this assessment, we have used the data collected in various legislative documents and statistical studies at the global and local level. On the other hand, we have carried out a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the impact of the pandemic and the use of digital resources carried out by the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya during the de-escalation and confinement phase.
