Abstract: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer in men, its incidence varies according to geographical areas, with Asia being the area with the lowest incidence; which suggests that there are environmental factors possibly involved in the genesis of this pathology. In epidemiological studies, a decrease in the risk of PCa has been observed in Asian men with the regular consumption of soy products and soy isoflavones, so it is believed that the consumption of these dietary components reduces the risk of PCa. This review aims to perform a comprehensive analysis on the association of the consumption of soy products and the risk of CaP. A bibliographic search of the articles published in the last 11 years has been carried out in relation to this topic. Four of the studies analyzed suggest that there is a decrease in the risk of PCa with regular consumption of these products. Likewise, a large part of the studies agree that they are safe and well tolerated. Analysis of the results of this review suggests that the consumption of soy products and soy isoflavones is associated with a lower risk of PCa, and that these products appear to have a good safety and tolerability profile. However, before recommending them in routine practice as chemoprevention of PCa, it is necessary to continue research and conduct properly designed studies in order to elucidate the exact mechanism by which these products reduce the risk of PCa.
