Abstract: Nowadays we can find in the market a good handful of applications that manage, record and offer a monitored report of diabetes. But there are few applications that respond to the most emotional part of the disease, either from the perspective of the patients themselves or from the family environment's perspective, who also suffer a lot from it. Our project is framed in the field of health, more specifically about the type 1 diabetes disease, and aims to provide a meeting point between relatives and patients affected by this disease through conceptualization and design of a web application. In the current context of the information and communication technologies, and specifically in social networks, there is a WhatsApp group called 'Dolços Guerrers' (Sweet Warriors), which performs the function of communicative exchange through a closed chat group around diabetes. This platform has become a tool for a very proactive community of parents. However, users often lack features which could provide more information about the disease, such as the support of a health professional, or the ability to search for specific topics inside the conversation threads. The aim of this project, which we call aGlucats, is to conceptualize the design of a web application around type 1 diabetes. The functionalities of this application should allow to weave the communication between users through a chat, the way the 'Dolços Guerrers' group it's doing with its WhatsApp platform. This app should also have a private chat enabling the communication between users and medical specialists, and it should also be able to organize the diabetes-related content generated in the conversation. It must be a responsive platform as well: mobile, tablet or desktop. And finally, it must be a project developed following the principles of user-centred design (UCD).
