Title: Abús sexual infantil: L'actuació dels professionals de l'educació a Catalunya
Author: Conesa i López, Marta
Tutor: Garrido Ortolá, Anabel
Abstract: The aim of this research work is to find out what the actions of education professionals should be when faced with the suspicion or detection of a case of child sexual abuse and whether these professionals have the training, knowledge, resources and tools to be able to act in order to fully protect children. A review of the literature and a mixed fieldwork study comprising two interviews with experts on the problem and 830 surveys of different education professionals in Catalonia have led to the conclusion that education professionals have several training needs in relation to child sexual abuse and that there is a need to incorporate the gender perspective in the approach, action and treatment of the problem. Finally, the social educator is proposed as a key professional figure to act as a point of reference for educational institutions in tackling child sexual abuse.
