Title: La traducción pedagógica como recurso en los manuales de ELE alemanes. Estudio de los manuales utilizados en las escuelas de adultos en Alemania (VHS)

Abstract: Mother tongue and translation have been banned from the language learning process for a long time. In the last years, and due to some studies, this situation has changed and nowadays, translation exercises are easy to be found in the text books that follow the Communicative Methodology. Pedagogical translation activities comprehend all the critical skills that belong to this methodology. Moreover, the mother tongue of the apprentices can have nowadays an important role in the learning process, and it is usually used in the language class, although some may have some reservations. In this study we will analyze how pedagogical translation activities are included in the Spanisch text books for adult learners, in the popular Universities (VHS), for the levels A1, A2 and B1. Even though communication-mediation activities are the priority in these books, we can find a wide range of other types of these activities, as well as good examples of the use of the learner's mother tongue with learning proposes.
