Abstract: The current situation, full of change and uncertainty, is transforming the labor market. Some occupations are disappearing, others are undergoing major changes and some will soon be created. Faced with this new reality, many people will have to rethink their professional objective and this will involve a process of recycling (upskilling and reskilling) to reposition themselves in the new labor market. The aim of this work has been to analyze what role is being given to career guidance in Catalonia, in this context of pandemic and in the future scenarios to come, in order to help people to reinvent themselves by acquiring new skills for the labor market of 2030. We have also studied the role of guidance in public actions that seem to be more innovative, such as active policies, economic recovery policies and outplacement, both public and private. A qualitative methodology has been followed, using the analysis of documentary information and semi-structured interviews to different significant agents who are in contact with professional guidance. The results confirm that it is increasingly present in the most important institutional pragmatic documents in Catalonia, but also show that there are still shortcomings when it comes to defining prospects of insertion and employability in the medium and long term. Finally, it has been proved that professional guidance has difficulties in accessing SMEs, less educated workers and the sectors most affected by the pandemic. In conclusion, we can say that career guidance needs to be adapted to the current reality because it is very necessary to avoid generating more social differences. On the other hand, it must be a service that is provided throughout people's lives and that is accessible to the entire population, regardless of their employment situation.
