Title: El liderazgo emocionalmente inteligente y su relación con la motivación y el desempeño laboral
Author: González Rovira, Laura

Abstract: In recent years, research has highlighted the important role of emotions in work environments, especially in demanding contexts, such as, for example, the one derived from Covid-19. Therefore, the objective of this research was to know the relationship of Emotional Intelligence (EI from now on) of the leaders with the motivation and work performance of the workers under their charge. This cross-sectional study collected the responses of 119 employees about their leader's EI, their own EI, their motivation and their work performance. The results showed high correlations between the variables: leader's EI and motivation (r=0.67), leader's EI and job performance (r=0.57) and between motivation and job performance (r=0.70) and moderate correlations between the variables: employee's EI and job performance (r=0.21). In conclusion, taking these results into consideration, it seems that the leader's EI could be positively related to the motivation and performance of the workers he/she manages. These findings, despite the need for further studies, highlight the importance of EI in the world of work, especially when it comes to understanding peer relationships.
