Abstract: Gender is an attribute of all people that can condition any decision. In the present study we want to know the impact that gender has on the choices related to studies and profession and how variables such as mentality change, perceived self-efficacy or family and academic models experienced affects in making this decision. Using an empiricalanalytical methodology and an ex-post-facto correlational study, an ad hoc questionnaire is administered to a total of 65 people aged between 18 to 35 who are pursuing or have completed higher education. The data analyzed suggest that gender is still, today, a constraint when choosing a study and a profession and that this has more impact in woman's decisions than in men. The role of academic and career guidance is essential to neutralize this constraint.
